Learn the concept first
Short study cards cover each section before you answer a single question.
Software you install yourself on a virtual machine is yours to patch and update. A managed database service such as Azure SQL Database has its software maintained by the provider, though the data inside remains the customer's. In SaaS, Microsoft runs the sign-in platform, but the customer still sets its own access policies, such as requiring MFA.
Ten-question rounds
Every answer explained. Score 80% and the next section unlocks.
Contoso has two database workloads in Azure. Team A installed SQL Server on an Azure virtual machine. Team B uses Azure SQL Database, a PaaS service.
Who is responsible for patching the database software in each workload?
When you install a database on a virtual machine, you are responsible for its patches and updates. With a managed cloud database such as Azure SQL Database, the provider maintains the database software. In both cases Contoso stays responsible for the data stored in the database.
