CompTIA Network+
CompTIA's vendor-neutral exam for network technicians and junior administrators. Practice what it tests: the OSI model, ports and subnetting, routing, switching and Wi-Fi, monitoring and documentation, network security, and working through a fault from symptom to fix. Every question is original and maps to CompTIA's current N10-009 exam objectives.
What you'll study
Every section follows the official N10-009 exam outline. Click a domain to see its sections.
The OSI model, network appliances and cloud connectivity, the common ports and protocols, wired and wireless media, transceivers and connectors, topologies, IPv4 addressing and subnetting, and newer ideas like SDN, VXLAN, zero trust, SASE, IaC and IPv6.
Static and dynamic routing and route selection, NAT/PAT and FHRP, VLANs and 802.1Q tagging, link aggregation, spanning tree and MTU, Wi-Fi bands, SSIDs, antennas and wireless security, then the physical side: IDFs, MDFs, racks, cabling, power and environment.
Network documentation, life-cycle and change management, SNMP, flow data, packet capture, logs and SIEM, monitoring tools, disaster recovery, DHCP, SLAAC, time protocols and DNS, VPNs, and secure management access with SSH, jump boxes and out-of-band links.
Encryption, certificates and PKI, identity and access management, physical security and deception, compliance and segmentation, common attacks from DoS and VLAN hopping to ARP and DNS poisoning, rogue devices and social engineering, and defenses like device hardening, NAC and ACLs.
The troubleshooting methodology, then cable, interface, switching, routing and addressing faults, congestion, latency and jitter, wireless performance, and the tools that find them: command-line utilities, protocol analyzers, Nmap, LLDP/CDP, hardware testers and device show commands.
Study, Quiz, Exam
Read the concepts, practice in short rounds, then test yourself on a mock exam with targeted feedback on where you need to focus more. Every question is original and maps to the official N10-009 outline.
Learn the concept first
Short study cards cover each section before you answer a single question.
The Transport layer, TCP for example, gives end-to-end delivery: it numbers data, acknowledges it, resends what is lost and uses windowing for flow control. Port numbers name the application on a host, so one IP address can host several services. Filtering by port number means reading Layer 4 information.
Ten-question rounds
Every answer explained. Score 80% and the next section unlocks.
Users in 10.1.20.0/24 can ping server 10.1.50.10 and open its HTTPS portal, but Remote Desktop connections to it fail.
Which OSI layer's information is the firewall using to separate the blocked traffic from the allowed traffic?
All three rules match the same source and destination IP addresses, so the only field that separates blocked RDP from allowed HTTPS is the destination port, a Transport layer value. The Network layer addresses are identical in the allow and deny rules, the firewall rules contain no MAC or VLAN (Data link) values, and the Session layer is not referenced.
Know exactly where to focus
Timed practice exams any time, with a study plan built from your mistakes.
What to expect on the N10-009
Made for anyone heading into networking or IT support who wants to understand how networks actually work. A+ and some hands-on time help, but neither is required.
