CompTIA CySA+

CS0-004 practice

CompTIA's security analyst exam, for people who detect, analyze and respond to threats in a SOC or vulnerability management role. Practice the work it tests: reading logs, alerts and scanner output, prioritizing vulnerabilities, running incident response and reporting to stakeholders. Every question is original and maps to CompTIA's current CS0-004 exam objectives.

What you'll study

Every section follows the official CS0-004 exam outline. Click a domain to see its sections.

Study, Quiz, Exam

Read the concepts, practice in short rounds, then test yourself on a mock exam with targeted feedback on where you need to focus more. Every question is original and maps to the official CS0-004 outline.

1 · Study

Learn the concept first

Short study cards cover each section before you answer a single question.

1-01 · Logging & operating system concepts
Masquerading processes and persistence

Attackers borrow trusted names, so judge a process by its parent, path and owner. A genuine svchost.exe runs from System32 under services.exe, and real Linux kernel workers run as root under kthreadd (PID 2). A /proc/PID/exe link ending in (deleted) means the binary was unlinked but the process still runs, and the file can often be copied out through it.

LocationWhen it runs
System-wide preload file in /etcListed libraries load into every program first (Dynamic Linker Hijacking)
Run keyAt each user logon, in that user's context
Winlogon Userinit valueEvery listed program, at logon
Exam tip
Brackets in ps output only mean the arguments were unreadable, so they prove nothing on their own. An explorer.exe with no parent shown is normal.

Questions

No. CySA+ has no required prerequisites. CompTIA recommends Network+ and Security+ or equivalent knowledge, plus about four years of hands-on security experience, such as work in a SOC or as a vulnerability analyst.
No. Every question is original, written against CompTIA's published CS0-004 exam objectives. Real exam questions are covered by CompTIA's candidate agreement, so any site selling them is selling braindumps.
Pick a domain, then a study section, and answer a ten-question round. Every answer comes with an explanation of why it's right and why the others aren't. Score 80% or better and the next section in that domain unlocks.
A typical range is two to three months, depending on how much hands-on security work you've done. CertPrep+ splits the CS0-004 into 40 sections, so at one or two a day you can work through the whole bank in about 3 to 6 weeks.
The whole CySA+ track is included with an opnf.sh subscription ($15/month or $120/year), which also includes every Pro course. AZ-900 and AWS Cloud Practitioner are free with no account needed, and a free account saves your progress and unlocks the practice exam.
The price varies by country and is listed on CompTIA's site. That fee is paid to CompTIA when you book the exam. It's separate from CertPrep+, which is a practice tool.
Yes. CySA+ is valid for three years from the day you earn it. You renew it through CompTIA's Continuing Education program, either by earning CE credits or by passing a newer exam before it expires.
It's written to CompTIA's CySA+ V4 (CS0-004) exam objectives, document version 2.0. CS0-004 launched on June 23, 2026, and the English CS0-003 exam retires on December 22, 2026. When CompTIA updates the objectives, the sections are updated to match.
